Maths
Maths is an important subject for all of our learners to achieve their full potential as it teaches many important real-life skills, including number, money, time and measure.
Here at The Marlborough, our aim is to provide our learners with mathematical skills and knowledge which enable them to apply skills and problem solve in order to be successful in the wider world.
At The Marlborough we have five learning pathways that children follow; Inspire, Initiate, Investigate, Illuminate and Intervention. These pathways are used to guide teaching and learning and ensure learning is bespoke to the needs of the individual child.
Children on Investigate and Illuminate pathways receive individualised learning in Math through individual ILP targets which are assessed against our own MPS framework (linked to The National Curriculum). For breadth and to support mastery of skill, they also follow the White Rose scheme of work. This provides children with challenge, allowing them to develop problem solving and reasoning skills in a range of contexts. It also encourages practical and real-life experiences and allows children to have access to a wide range of resources to support their learning.
Maths is incorporated through effective continuous provision for our children on Inspire, Initiate and Intervention pathways. This enables them to focus primarily on their identified areas of need through their ILPs, whist still being exposed to mathematical learning experiences.
Children are also encouraged to engage with online learning through TTRockstars and Numbots (links below). Children are given log ins to access this at home and their participation and achievement is celebrated through assemblies and rewards in school.
