Pastoral

Mrs Brice is the Pastoral and Behaviour Lead for The Marlborough.

Pastoral Care at The Marlborough

It is vital every child feels safe and cared for at The Marlborough and therefore needs a space to talk/ communicate in their own way.

Our pupils’ wellbeing in imperative, as without self and mutual regulation skills and knowledge they cannot access learning fully. We follow the SCERTS curriculum in order to monitor their development in this area.

We have also introduced the Marlborough Me Measure or the MMM which comes in two forms. A short child-friendly survey that has our Value characters throughout for children who can access this; and then an observation tool for staff to complete that measures wellbeing and involvement. From here, if children are displaying low MHWB factors we can discuss these findings with parents and with professionals to make sure we are providing everything we can for each individual here at The Marlborough.

Our Therapy and Intervention Team are based within here within The Marlborough, and work with specific children to develop skills and knowledge in a variety of developmental areas. Sometimes our children need support with their MHWB and if a child is felt to need art therapy (RIT Art Therapist) or talking therapy (through Hoo Cares) this can be done on site too.

Hoo Cares, whose offices are based within the main school, provides a safe space for children to talk through their thoughts and feelings with a qualified psychotherapist- Dawn.
