You are able to drop off and collect your child from school if you wish, the following procedure applies to personal transport as well.
Drop off and Pick up procedure:
Unfortunately, due to the nature of our entrance we need to have a safe way of ensuring pupils can come in and out of school. We appreciate the time it takes for parents to wait in line but we thank you for your co-operation in ensuring safety is our paramount concern.
All buses and cars enter our site through the Hundred of Hoo secondary school site. If the green gates are closed, please press the intercom button marked 'The Marlborough' for entry. You then follow this road all the way along and up to The Marlborough.
Buses and cars can arrive on site from 8.30am and follow the one way system around the outside edge of the car park.
They will form a single file queue beginning from outside the main doors of the building.
At 8.45am, Marlborough staff will begin greeting the children and escorting them into school - please remain in your vehicle until directed by a member of staff.
At 2.45pm, Marlborough staff will begin escorting children out of the school and in to vehicles in the order that they are in the queue.
Please remain in your vehicle until you are parked by the entrance to the school.
If you are walking to collect/drop off then you should not be bringing your car on to the Hundred of Hoo site as parking and vehicle moving space is extremely limited. Please be extremely careful of moving cars both on our site and our neighbouring Hundred of Hoo site.
We ask everyone to support the smooth transition into and out of school for our children by:
(a) Keeping conversations with staff brief if possible – you can always arrange a phone call, Evidence For Learning message or request to park and have a longer conversation.
(b) Parking in such a way which allows constant flow of traffic, so that cars can pass you or park up to drop off or pick up children. Please try not to block these routes when you are dropping off or picking up.
There are times when parents have prior agreement from the Head of Provision for different pick up arrangements, as well as parents collecting for appointments. Please be considerate and understanding of this.
Medication In School
The school is happy to keep the following medications in school:
1. Medication that is under a Health Care Plan (drawn up between the parents, SENDCo and
medical professionals if felt necessary).
2. Emergency medication (e.g. Asthma inhalers, Autoinjectors / EpiPens, emergency Epilepsy
medication, creams etc).
If parents require medication to be stored at school, they need to complete a medication form
(to be signed off by the parent and a member of SLT). A copy of the form can be found here.
If parents approach the school for a placement and their child requires emergency medication,
consideration will be given to the facilities required and guidance will be sought from the
School Nurse / Health Service if required.
If a child has emergency medication (such as Asthma inhalers, emergency Epilepsy medication
or Autoinjectors / EpiPens), parents will be asked to provide two (2) supplies and regularly
check they are in date and replenished when necessary.
Asthma Inhalers – where possible, two inhalers are required for school. One will be kept in the
medical room. A member of staff will remind pupils that these are to be taken to outdoor
activities/swimming/trips etc. If a pupil is unable to take responsibility due to age, Special
Educational Need then an adult will carry the inhaler.
Autoinjectors / EpiPens – two will be needed for school. One to be kept in medical room and
one in the classroom.
Emergency Epilepsy Medication – in school and in date.
In line with other schools’ policies, if medicines are prescribed up to 3 times a day, the
expectation is that parents or carers will give these medicines outside of school hours.
If medicines are prescribed 4 times a day, the school strongly encourages parents or carers to
make arrangements to come into school to administer these medicines themselves.
Parents and carers will definitely be required to administer the first 24 hour dose of any new
prescription, for example antibiotics.
