Therapy and Intervention
At The Marlborough we are aware that children may have additional needs that could have the potential to limit their full potential.
- Social and Emotional Needs
- Speech & Language Needs
- Sensory Needs
and many, many more.
We offer a range of therapies to meet these needs. We have a fully qualified Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SALT), and a fully qualified Occupational Therapist working on site across the week. We also have a fully qualified Art Therapist once a week and access to Hoo Cares therapist.

Universal - for every child…
We believe in every child’s innate right to an education which enables inspires and enriches and believe that the most successful learning takes place when we understand children as a whole and how their individual needs are supported within context of their whole being.
Once these needs are identified we need to understand they impact of upon the children’s everyday lives and learning. Our main focus for intervention and therapy is combining the skills and knowledge of both the teaching staff and the intervention and therapy team enabling them to work together in the classroom.
At The Marlborough this is achieved in 3 ways:
Through a bespoke planned specialist school curriculum.
By selecting the method of teaching delivery and curriculum pathway to match children’s individual profiles.
By addressing specific skills deficits functionally, with relevant ‘real-life’ goals that can be rehearsed throughout the school day with different people in different places.
Targeted – for those children who need something more…
Some children will benefit from targeted intervention to address specific needs, whether this be long or short term. The Intervention and Therapy team work in collaboration with classroom based staff to deliver a mixture of group and individual interventions for example Lego Therapy, Sensory Circuits, Speed up and Time to Talk as well as specific support for communication such as using PECS, Colourful Semantics and Language for thinking. These programmes may take place in or outside of classrooms, individually or in similarly assessed groups. Others may have a targeted programme build into their learning throughout a conventional class day.
Specialist – for those children who’s need for Therapy is specialist…
