Our Intervention Menu at the Marlborough.

Sensory Circuit 
The initial aim of the sensory circuits programme is to facilitate sensory processing and effective sensory integration, allowing children to be in the optimum state of alertness, ready for learning.  

SALT  - in house and MCH 
SALT Team off intervention hours and provide with a plan of action with targets – handovers are completed with staff to enable to plans to be implemented within the classroom setting.  
In house therapist – to support with initial referrals and pre referral activities and support staff in carrying out plans and specific targets that may not work well within the structure of a classroom day.  

OT Programme  
Occupational therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial and sensory components of performance. In schools, occupational therapy practitioners focus on academics, play and leisure, social participation, self-care skills (ADLs or Activities of Daily Living), and transition/work skills. 
 
Meet and Greet  
To be able to talk about the emotions they feel at home to set a good mindset for the day – can incorporate sensory activities to regulate after journey to school.    
 
Hoo Cares 
1:1 - Our weekly one-to-one sessions provide support to children who have a sustained need for more intense work. Trained counsellors tailor sessions according to each child's needs, in an age-appropriate way. For younger children our therapeutic approach encourages children to express themselves in non-verbal ways, for example through artwork or play. 
Children can refer themselves or be referred by a parent or carer, a teacher or another agency. 
 
 
Beat Dyslexia 
The Beat Dyslexia series of books has been designed to help any child, teenager or adult who is struggling to read, write or spell.  
Place 2 Talk 
Place2Be's lunchtime service is a quiet place to talk and play during the busy school day. It has a permanent presence in schools and is open to all pupils through self-referral 
 
Sounds Write 
Sounds-Write is a quality first phonics programme. Its purpose is to provide classroom professionals with a comprehensive system with which to teach reading, spelling and writing. 

Accelerated Reader 
A reading programme that encompasses comprehension alongside reading ability – interactive quizzes are used to allow students and families to drive reading progression.  

Phonics 
Additional support for those children who find phonics hard to access within normal classroom limits.  

Plus 1 
A maths intervention of 10-15 minutes daily focusing on the basic maths skills with the aim of confidence building and ensuring any gaps in knowledge are securely filled.  

Power of 2 
A maths intervention of 10-15 minutes daily focusing on more complex maths skills with the aim of confidence building and ensuring any gaps in knowledge are securely filled.  

Lego Therapy 
A group run by our in house speech therapist – designed to support speech and language targets – overseen by NHS SALT team. 

Functional Language

Developing the use of language in social situations and to support access to the wider community. 

Language for Thinking
A structured approach to develop children’s language from the ‘here and now’ to the ‘how and why’.

Social Support  
Children that have been assessed via the Boxall profile will have bespoke targets to support them in the social aspects of everyday life. 6 week programme – 1-2 times a week.  

Speed Up 
Speed Up! gets to the root of writing difficulties by developing kinaesthetic awareness through multi-sensory activity and exercise. For children whose handwriting is illegible, slow or lacking in fluency 

Write from the Start 
Programme guiding children through the various stages of fine motor development to lay foundations for accurate handwriting. Focusing on hand eye co-ordination, form consistency, spatial organisation, figure-ground organisation, orientation and laterality 

Forest School
Developing life skills and gaining an understanding of the natural wordl. Developing communication skills beyond the classroom 

Therapeutic Play
Supporting children to manage emotions, develop insight, solve problems, spark joy and encourage communication. Children speak the language of play and use this to interact with the world
 
Sounds Linkage 
Developed to support children with reading delays and dyslexia. The ten sections of activities within the guide include: identification of words and syllables; identification and supply of rhyming words; identification and discrimination of phonemes; and blending, segmentation, deletion, substitution and transposition of phonemes within words. 
 
Toe By Toe 
Targeted intervention of 10-15 minutes daily designed to benefit any child with reading difficulties especially those who have been diagnosed as having specific learning difficulties (dyslexia) 
 
Six Minute Social Skills 
Step by step activities to develop conversational and social detective skills.  
 
Socially Speaking 
A pragmatic social skills programme for pupils with milk to moderate learning difficulties with a focus on increasing self esteem, listening skills, language skills, expressive skills and confidence in social situations.  
 
Time to Talk  
Developing oral language and social interaction skills across 40 sessions. Typically 2-3 times per week. Skills taught include eye contact, turn taking, sharing, greetings, awareness of feelings, giving/following instructions, listening, attention and play skills.  
 
Language for Thinking  
Language for Thinking is a structured approach to develop children’s language from the ‘here and now’ to the ‘how and why’ developing not only the use of language but comprehension and inference skills.  

Tac Pac 
Tacpac combines the sense of touch and music through social interaction. It  is delivered via an interaction between 2 people – a giver and a receiver. The session is structured and takes place in an emotionally safe environment, clear of other sensory interferences. 
 
See and Learn 
A systematic program supporting children early vocabulary, sight words, simple phrases and sentences and grammar rules through visual representation of language concepts to support the development of both reading and spoken language.
